Maternal Domains
Centered in my experiences of pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood, this work explores the maternal body as a site of physical transformation, intimacy, vulnerability, and strength. Life-size figures emerge from these memories: some tender, others shocking. Drawings, often ripped and repaired, are layered with cloth and stitched with thread and wire, transforming cloth into a second skin that evokes protection, nurture, memory, and the emotional landscape of motherhood. These works reflect the contradictions of maternal experience: love and loss, tenderness and endurance, pain and renewal, revealing the maternal body as both a physical and emotional landscape.
