Life Paused. Women and Wars
Created in response to the devastation of war, this body of work bears witness to women whose lives are violently interrupted, yet who continue to sustain life through birth, nurturing, and caregiving amid violence, displacement, and loss. Burned images of female figures layered over weathered wood shingles become both surface and metaphor, carrying traces of destruction while revealing unexpected beauty and resilience. Drawn figures emerge from these fragmented forms, joined with nails and staples, then tentatively mended with cloth and thread, bearing the marks of survival. Through burning, tearing, layering, and reconstruction, the work reflects on both the fragility of life and the enduring capacity of women to persevere and preserve life.
